The City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) introduces GeoFaceLocation, a new digital timekeeping innovation designed to make employee attendance recording more accessible, reliable, and responsive to today’s evolving work environment.
Attendance Beyond Boundaries
Traditional timekeeping often depends on a fixed biometric device installed at a specific location. GeoFaceLocation expands that capability by combining facial verification and geolocation technology, allowing authorized employees to record attendance using a supported device while confirming both identity and location.
The system is designed around three key elements: Location. Identity. Accountability.
With GeoFaceLocation, authorized attendance can be recorded with greater flexibility while maintaining mechanisms for verification and monitoring. This can be particularly useful for employees whose official duties require them to work in the field, report to designated locations, or perform authorized activities away from their usual biometric station.
A CHRMO-Led Timekeeping Innovation
Developed as part of CHRMO’s continuing digital transformation initiatives, GeoFaceLocation aims to complement existing attendance systems and strengthen the management of employee timekeeping records.
It is designed to support:
Facial verification to help confirm the identity of the employee recording attendance;
Geolocation-based validation to determine where an attendance transaction is made;
Digital time-in and time-out recording for authorized users;
Improved monitoring and traceability of attendance transactions; and
Greater flexibility for legitimate work arrangements and field-based assignments.
The implementation of GeoFaceLocation will be guided by applicable attendance policies, authorized work arrangements, data privacy requirements, and CHRMO rules and procedures. Use of the system does not automatically authorize attendance from any location; applicable office and personnel policies will continue to determine when and where employees may officially record attendance.
