Every day, the work of the City Government of Iligan is carried forward by people entrusted with responsibilities that directly affect the lives of Iliganons.
Some serve at the frontline, assisting citizens and responding to immediate concerns. Others work behind the scenes—preparing reports, managing records, maintaining systems, inspecting projects, planning programs, and providing the technical and administrative support that keeps government moving.
What connects these different roles is more than the position each employee holds. It is the way they bring competence, commitment, and service into their work.
Competence allows employees to perform with confidence, accuracy, and professionalism. It is reflected in knowing what needs to be done, understanding the responsibility behind every task, and continuously improving one's skills as the demands of public service evolve.
But knowledge and ability become more meaningful when accompanied by commitment.
Commitment is seen in the employee who takes responsibility for results, works with integrity, supports colleagues, and remains dependable even when the work becomes demanding. It is the willingness to go beyond simply completing a task and to understand why that task matters to the organization and to the people being served.
This is where competence and commitment find their true purpose—in service.
For an LGU-Iligan employee, a transaction is not merely another document to process. A report may guide an important decision. An inspection may protect public safety. A system maintained properly may help an office deliver faster services. A few minutes spent patiently assisting a citizen may completely shape that person's experience with government.
Service gives meaning to the work.
From the perspective of the City Human Resource Management Office, developing employees means nurturing these qualities together. Training strengthens competence. A supportive and accountable work environment reinforces commitment. And a strong culture of public service ensures that both are directed toward the needs of the community.
The strength of LGU-Iligan is therefore not found only in its programs, facilities, or technology. It is also found in employees who know their work, value their responsibilities, and understand whom they ultimately serve.
Because when competence guides our actions, commitment strengthens our purpose, and service remains at the center of what we do, every LGU-Iligan employee becomes part of building a more responsive, dependable, and people-centered City Government.
Competence in our work. Commitment to our responsibility. Service to every Iliganon.
